WA - Priest Point Park boxes...Missing???

From: hoopoe4me (scribenbirder@msn.com) | Date: 2002-06-29 23:00:20 UTC
I visited the two box locations at the park today, "Lost Loon" and
Thanksgiving"

I checked high and low on and in the tree for Thanksgiving but could
not find. What an interesting tree! I hope the box didn't fall into
it's belly!

"Lost Loon" I really messed up on. There are two trailheads for the
named trail. I was able to re-orient using the "Bear Cub" on the
tree but it was all for naught. The "Y" tree came up bare then I
really got fuddled with the second location.

It is however a Beautiful park with some very good fern species
represented.

Could the reason "Lost Loon" was not listed on the regular site be
that the boxes are missing?

I would love to tackle this one again if someone can confirm the
boxes are in place and that I am am aimless wandering fool :-D!

Sounds like we have a "Lost Hoopoe4me" too....................
IF you found the black bear cub, there are no other choices before Loon #1.

This next can't be missed unless the post is missing.........
Continue your trek until you reach a white capped 'Trail Head' post.

Go 280 degrees from the top of this post.
(put your compass on top of the post and go 280 degrees)

The next decision is.............
Shun 'Service' in favor of 180 degrees.

(while walking on the 180 degree trail choice)
Go 270 when you can.
(take the first trail you find that heads off at 270 degrees)

(put your compass on top of the post as before)

I hate to admit it, but it took me three tries to find the
Thanksgiving box and I was looking at the right tree all along!
So it might be there and you have just overlooked it like I did!

All three boxes placed in Priest Point Park box were there on May
28th.

They were among the more difficult finds of our WA-OR trip as
you can be looking directly at the hiding spot and see no sign of
the box.

No problem with 1st Thanksgiving--it was still there a couple of
days ago (22 Jul 02). Still looking for those loons--make sure
you're at the 'correct' trailhead--that might make life easier.
Nevertheless, we're still looking for the box(es), too. Many non-LB
hikers on the trail that day, wonder if one or two of them got
curious awhile back??? We will continue to look for them,
though...I refused to be 'stumped'!!!

By the way, if you enjoyed the Priest Point Park trails, check out
the Hummingbird & the Eagle at Titlow Park in Tacoma. Neat trail,
some stretches along the water...

The first Lost Loon was there about two weeks ago, but
the second one stumped us. One or more of the landmarks
may be missing.

The Lost Loon boxes are still there as of 7-24-2002.
The first white-capped post mentioned in the clues is missing.
This is the first time a decision is needed after the first box.
At this junction you should take the right fork or 280 degrees as stated in
the clues.
The post stood at the center of the 'Y'
Remember, The black box does not reveal itself......................
